Winter sucks (unless you’re snowboarding). It’s hard to get out of bed, and even more difficult to leave the house feeling both warm and stylish.  I’ve come up with a quick trick to help make the whole frequently worn winter coat ordeal a little less drab.

Just because it’s minus twenty doesn’t mean we can’t still be inventive …right?

The great thing about this look is how easy it is to achieve. Below are the basics on how to get er’ done:

For this DIY you will need/

Fabric

Scissors

Ruler

Needle and Thread (optional)

Take a strip of coloured (or textured) fabric and tie it around the waist of your coat. You can make it as wide, or as thin as you like. The strip I cut was approximately 6 inches wide and 43 inches (or half a meter) in length. This is great because you can play with the colour, as well as the dimension. This will give you’re uninspired, routinely worn winter coat a little ‘pop’. This idea is great because you can interpret it in such a variety of different ways. I purchased my strip from Fabricland for $3. Best part? They’re having a sale from now until Feb. 1st. This means tons of fabrics, all super cheap. Take a gander and let your imagination run wild.
