#RX3 | 4 Ways to Maximize your Wardrobe
1| Quality Staples. This one is key. Having a few quality staples such as a clean black pump, a pair of great fitting jeans, and a functional sweater will always make getting dressed easier. When you’ve got a small but impact-full arsenal of ever- ready staples it’s much easier to transition from day to night in a snap. How to spot the perfect staple you ask? Quality fabric and a great fit. Emphasis on the fit. For example, you know those DIY Furkenstocks I literally murdered last summer? Yes those. No shame in repeating what works… Lets not re-invent the wheel.
2| Layer your garments. Layering. Oh how I love layering. Now that we’ve discussed the effect of quality staples, what could be better than piling up the good stuff? Also, layering allows you to utilize clothing from every season, minimizing the amount of items that get tucked away in the ‘summer’ bin. You know that cute summer dress in your closet collecting dust? Slap on a fitted pant and add a sweet little cropped sweater. With this tip, texture and proportion are everything. Above the knee dress with a slim understated pant. The shorter you are, the shorter the dress, the longer the leg. Period.
3| The Closet edit. For some, this is a difficult one. Sometimes (often) we have so much stuff that we forget exactly whats lying in the depths of closets. I say if you haven’t worn it since the season’s changed, theres a good chance it shouldn’t be there. Whats the point in hoarding clothes that could potentially be sold to make a little extra cash or given to someone who will give it new life? As a rule of thumb I personally do an edit every time I purchase something new. I always know exactly what I own and what I may be lacking. For the readers who just got anxious, once a season will do. Breath. You can do this.
4| Double functions. Ah, another favourite. Out of all four tips, I think this one has helped me the most in creating a more minimal lifestyle. For example, my closet is mostly separated into two categories; clothing for going out, and clothing for the gym. Thats it. House clothes, beach wear, running errands, even gardening all of my clothing fits into one category or the other. For example, I bun a sweat pant. I just don’t wear them. You know the kind that mans used to wear after they run ball? Yes those. Like in 2015 what is their function? Don’t worry……I’ll wait. They make everyone look like their either in a 90’s rap video, or like you just don’t care about life. Extreme? Ok fine. Maybe it is. But seriously who’s going to the gym with all that extra fabric free flowing around their legs….like..no. Sweatpants, I declare you irrelevant.
Sorry. That was a complete rant. Yes, back to double functions…..you can pretty much do anything casual in gym clothes. After all, aren’t they made for comfort? You can mix and match items with your ‘going out’ clothes and bam. Closet maximized!
Duces.
